Books from 2023 by L. Ayu Saraswati (Scarred: A Feminist Journey Through Pain), Megan Sweeney (Mendings), Christina Sharpe (Ordinary Notes), and Moon Charania (An Archive of Tongues: An Intimate History of Brownness) highlight the diverse ways that contemporary feminist life writing can theorize the present. Writing outside the frame of autobiography, these texts draw from the personal to provide nuanced perspectives on power and situatedness. They make felt the varieties of violence, illuminating the myriad ways structures of class, race, and gender can cut while also attuning to difficult and/or beautiful intimacies."
